Try Rec Programming in 2017

  • Aikido is a non-competitive martial art teaching how to use only the strength necessary to control an adversary. A safe and enjoyable teaching atmosphere allows students to develop respect for themselves and others to increase self-confidence and physical abilities.

  • Fencing for adults is a course which aims to give participants a solid understanding of attack and defence techniques of the sport. All equipment is provided.

  • Karate practice is divided into three categories: KIHON (basic blocks, punches, kicks and stances), KATA (pre-arranged forms simulating combat situations), and KUMITE (sparring).

  • Kung Fu is an ancient Chinese martial art with a holistic training system specific to Northern Shaolin Kung Fu. You will learn traditional forms, kicking (including the famous tornado and butterfly kicks), punching, blocking, grappling and throwing, as well as self-defense techniques and chi-kung.

  • Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) program will give participants a taste of what it’s like to be George St-Pierre by helping improve self-confidence, flexibility, strength and stamina.

  • Taekwondo teaches self-defence while emphasizing the harmonization of mind, body, and spirit. A long-time friend of the University of Ottawa, Grand Master Tae E Lee has been a tireless promoter of the core values of Taekwondo. His emphasis on both the mind and body will help promote success at home and at school.

  • Self Defence for Women is a Tae E. Lee Taekwondo program that emphasizes self-defense techniques, teaching students quick reaction and balance manipulation to avert dangerous situations while building strength and self-confidence. Students have the opportunity to test themselves using the 'Protection First Suit' in full contact situations.

  • Taekwondo Olympic Training is an optional training session for those students currently attending the regular taekwondo classes. Members must have obtained the rank of yellow belt.
