Free childcare services hours: 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.

Thinking of becoming a camp counselor? Want to be more involved in your high school or community? This intense four-week camp is specifically designed for those who enjoy taking charge and leading group activities. The first and third weeks consist of specialized workshops on leadership styles, communication skills, program planning, volunteering, safety procedures, résumé writing, and more. Participants learn skills and master techniques needed by all effective camp counselors and leaders. Participants also get a chance to complete CPR and first-aid certification in a 16-hour course taught by a qualified instructor. During the second and fourth weeks, participants apply their knowledge in week-long placements in one of our Gee-Gees camps and gain hands-on experience organizing games, activities and sports for younger campers.
Participation during these weeks could be validated for community service hours depending on their secondary school. Participants get paired with a different head counselor for each placement, and they receive continual written and oral feedback throughout the four weeks of the training.
