Winter, a season made for Netflix marathons, candles, warm cookies, and lots and lots of blankets. If you ask us, however cold it may be, winter can also be a season for staying active!
Why wait for the Rideau Canal to freeze over when you can start getting in the workout groove right now? Campus recreation wants to make sure you have the tools you need to stay active this winter.
Try out drop-in skating , hockey, or even indoor soccer on campus this winter. Both of our fitness centres are open through exam season and the Health and Lifestyle Centre is even open for a bulk of the Holiday break. Group fitness classes will stay on the schedule throughout the exams and a fresh batch of registered activities and intramural programs start up in January. Take a look at the facility closure list to avoid any disappointment. Join us this season and keep pushing to achieve your fitness goals!
PS. we also have some off-campus winter fitness recommendations for you:
- Check out Winterlude Festival from February 1st to the 18th for a festival filled with winter activities, music, food, and a ton of fun!
- A classic, go skating on the Rideau Canal. For a twist, compete with your friends to see who can skate the furthest.
- Go hiking in Gatineau Park (for FREE!) - Located just 15 minutes from Ottawa’s downtown core, this beautiful park offers more than 165 km of trails.
- The popular Sir John A. Macdonald Winter Trail grooms tracks for snowshoeing, walking and fat biking for 16 km along the Ottawa River running westward from the Canadian War Museum, near downtown.
Working out releases feel-good chemicals and helps to de-stress the brain and the body. Combine exercise with the beautiful outdoors of Ottawa for even more benefits.
Change your outlook on winter. Let us help you beat the winter blues and stay active this season by making the most of your student experience!
Best of luck with your exams and Happy Holidays!
