The University of Ottawa is pleased to announce that Marc Schryburt has been named Director of Sports Services, effective March 30, 2015.
Marc Schryburt has worked in education, coaching and sports program management for over 25 years. He started as a teacher and high school principal before becoming a seasoned coach and experienced manager.
For the past five years, he has been Chief Operating Officer and Director, International Programs for the Coaching Association of Canada. In this capacity, he was responsible for operations and for developing partnerships with governments and national and international sports organizations, including Olympic committees.
“We are thrilled to welcome to our team a person whose experience and skills encompass not only education and sports, but also management. Marc Schryburt has earned an enviable reputation in the sports community and I am confident that he is an excellent choice to lead our Sports Services,” said Marc Joyal, Vice-President, Resources.
Marc Schryburt is very familiar with university sports, having worked full time as a football coach for six seasons with McGill University and the University of Sherbrooke. He has also been a guest coach for a number of professional teams in the Canadian Football League. In addition, he has coached seven different sports and has trained coaches in Canada and abroad as a national and international Master Learning Facilitator.
“I look forward to joining the University of Ottawa Sports Services team. For me, sport brings people together at an educational institution, both because it promotes an active lifestyle and because it generates a sense of belonging among students and staff members,” said Marc Schryburt.
